The KBS Group, LLP is pleased to announce that Derek Coats has joined the firm as Principal and Director of Missouri Operations. In this new role, Derek will lead the KBS Government Affairs team based in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Derek brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He served as District Director for former U.S. Senator Christopher S. “Kit” Bond, Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, and most recently led the successful gubernatorial campaign of Mike Kehoe.

“I’ve had the privilege to work closely with Derek Coats for the last 15 years. No one understands Missouri better and no one is more effective at finding solutions. Derek will be a great addition to KBS,” said former U.S. Senator Roy Blunt.

Derek will be based in Jefferson City and will assist with client efforts throughout the Midwest and Washington, D.C. Additionally, he will continue his work as a campaign consultant, providing strategic advice to political leaders in Missouri.

Derek holds a degree in Political Science from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO. He resides in Columbia with his wife, Kellie Ann, and son Carter.
