Deb Detmers Fansler joined KBS in April 2023 as a Director, bringing with her four decades of experience in state and federal government. In her role, Deb assists clients seeking to expand their businesses into Illinois by researching local, state, and federal incentives, engaging with government officials, and coordinating efforts to secure support letters for federal grants. She also organizes events involving public officials and facilitates meetings with federal leaders in Washington, D.C.
From 1997 to 2020, Deb served as District Director for Congressman John Shimkus, managing all district operations, including scheduling, casework, special projects, and events. Prior to that, she was Director of the Index Department in the Illinois Secretary of State’s office, where she led the implementation of Illinois’ first lobbyist registration system and oversaw other regulatory filings, such as notary public licensing and the publication of the Illinois Register.
Her political career began with work on various campaigns and as Assistant to the Chief of Staff for the Illinois Senate Republican Staff. Before joining KBS, she was a fundraising consultant with The Newberg Group, contributing to several successful Illinois campaigns.
A longstanding figure in Illinois Republican politics, Deb has served as State Central Committeeman for the 12th Congressional District, Madison County Republican Chairman, and an elected Delegate (McCain) and Alternate Delegate (Bush) to the Republican National Convention. She currently serves as an elected precinct committeeman in Madison County. Her campaign involvement includes both paid and volunteer roles, such as the 2020 election of Supreme Court Justice David Overstreet and the elections of the last four Madison County Circuit Judges.
